I am a postdoctoral scholar in the Pullias Center for Higher Education at the University of Southern California. I focus on the transformative potential of postsecondary education for the public good, with an emphasis on two areas of research: how students’ academic experiences influence their outcomes and how academic leaders shape students’ educational experiences.
I earned my PhD from the Higher Education and Student Affairs program at the University of Iowa, where I worked in the Center for Research on Undergraduate Education. My background is in rhetoric, composition, and creative writing. Before beginning my doctoral program, I spent more than a decade as a faculty member at the University of Miami, teaching undergraduate writing courses, working in the Writing Center, and serving in various leadership roles. I also collaboratively developed the Summer Writing Institute for Faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences.
